“We just seemed to fit in over there.”
Linda and Larry Hale, Independent Contractor
Linda Hale’s first career was as a hair dresser. Her husband Larry worked for Georgia Pacific. When their son Dean graduated from high school, they began searching for a job that would allow them to spend more time together. They chose trucking….and Fikes Truck Line. “It was a shot in the dark. We had seen their advertisements, but didn’t know anything about them. Once we walked in the door, we knew we had found the right place. The people in the office were friendly -- easy to talk to and be around. We just seemed to fit in over there.”
That was nearly ten years ago, and the Hales love driving so much, they encouraged their son to sign up, “He saw how we were running, how much money we were making.” The younger Hale signed up with Fikes and is now a contractor in his own right, bringing a whole new meaning to the term “Fikes family.” “Fikes has always been fair to us. Anything they can do for you, they will. And you can talk to them about anything. We’ve had other companies try to get us to move, but we can’t imagine working for anybody else." |
